David Zaharakis is a current triathlete, competing in various triathlons and Ironman events around Australia and the world. Currently he has completed:
- 1 x IRONMAN
- 1 x 70.3 Ironman
David is well known for being an AFL player for the Essendon Football Club from 2009-2021. David burst on to the AFL scene with a match winning goal against Collingwood on Anzac Day in 2009 in just his 4th AFL game.
David won the Crichton Medal as Essendon's Best and Fairest in 2011 and won the 2013 ANZAC Day Medal. He was involved in Essendons leadership group for numerous years, helping the club transition out of one of its worst times in history, mentoring younger players and teaching them the requirements of being a professional in the AFL. David retired from AFL in 2021, playing 226 games for the Essendon Football Club.
