David Zaharakis is a current triathlete, competing in various triathlons and Ironman events around Australia and the world. Currently he has completed:

  • 1 x IRONMAN
  • 1 x 70.3 Ironman

David is well known for being an AFL player for the Essendon Football Club from 2009-2021. David burst on to the AFL scene with a match winning goal against Collingwood on Anzac Day in 2009 in just his 4th AFL game.

David won the Crichton Medal as Essendon's Best and Fairest in 2011 and won the 2013 ANZAC Day Medal. He was involved in Essendons leadership group for numerous years, helping the club transition out of one of its worst times in history, mentoring younger players and teaching them the requirements of being a professional in the AFL. David retired from AFL in 2021, playing 226 games for the Essendon Football Club.

David appeared on Australian Survivor S8 Heroes vs Villains in 2022. He loves to travel and has a Bachelors Degree from Deakin University: Bachelor of Property & Real Estate, majoring in Global Finance. In his spare time, he creates various digital content for businesses/Instagram campaigns. 
David is media trained with years of experience during his 13-year AFL career: 
  • Hosted his own podcast (The Pros and The Cons 2019-21.
  • Co-hosted TAC Future Stars and AFL Footy Show on channel 9. 
  • Guest host on AFL GameDay on channel 7. 
  • Fox footy AFL guest commentator. 
  • AFL radio commentary for Croc media. 
  • Radio advertisement for various businesses.
