Recruited from Yeronga South in Brisbane by the Lions, Kate was a key player in the Lions inaugural team where she played every game in the first season, was nominated for ‘Goal of the Year’ and won All Australian selection.
Kate is also the only AFL/W player who has played professionally with a pacemaker, after she started experiencing issues at the age of 10.
Kate retired at the conclusion of the 2022 season. Kate is now the Assistant Coach of the Western Bulldogs AFLW team ahead of season 8 - 2023.
Outside of Football, Kate is a qualified teacher and also has a regular spot as part of Triple M’s AFL Coverage as an Expert Commentator. In addition, Kate has featured on Fox Footy’s coverage and hosted Channel 9’s Women's Footy Show before being joining Channel 7’s AFLW Coverage. Kate is also an accomplished keynote speaker, sharing her journey in Women's Sport, and covering topics such as Leadership, Coaching, and Culture. Kate is proud member of the LGBTQIA+ Community and is experience in presenting on these topics.
Kate has been a guest speaker at the White Cloud Foundation Women in sport breakfast. Speaking at the ACHPER 2017 women in sport breakfast, October 2017. Guest speaker at Sanitarium 200,000th participant milestone announcement (a PickStar event). Speaker at various schools for assemblies or sports breakfasts. Patron for Girls Got Heart Foundation, raising money for heart health and heart specialists reaching rural communities and providing health services to those who are disadvantaged by their remoteness. Kate is also passionate about the prevention of violence against women and raising awareness of this problem.
