Six stars secured for a campaign in just two hours

The Brief

With COVID-19 restrictions being relaxed within the state, Tourism Western Australia wanted to promote intra-state tourism using a range of well-known names in a social campaign using #wanderoutyonder. Tourism WA engaged Pickstar to find the stars based to coincide with Premier Mark McGowan announcing intra-state travel was set to return.

Tourism WA didn't have any time to waste, with the posts required the following day (to coincide with the announcement).

Knowing their budget and needing stars based in WA with an engaged following, they put a request on the Pickstar platform with deliverables, an outline of the posts, and the timeframe.

Within minutes, they had stars applying. And within 30 minutes, they'd made their first booking. Then their second booking. And a third.

From landing on to having six amazing stars as a part of their campaign - two hours.

    That’s right. Two hours.

The stars published social posts highlighting the natural beauty on offer all across Western Australia. While the posts featured consistent hashtags, they were written in a tone that was natural to the star.

The campaign was extremely effective at creating awareness for the eased restrictions and engaged hundreds of thousands of Western Australians through social media, helping the state’s tourism industry bounce back.
