Joel Thompson Inspires at Mental Health Fundraiser
The Brief
Book a sports star who has experienced mental health challenges, or knows someone who has, to attend a North West Queensland Mental Health Network Fundraising Event and promote the event on social media.
Solution
Kate Lovett decided to host an event titled 'Dinner on the Field' to raise money for the North West Queensland Mental Health Network, part of her participation in the Isa Rodeo Queen Quest.
The event was attended by people involved in the charity and residents of Mount Isa and surrounding areas.
Kate approached Pickstar in search of a sports star with experience of mental health challenges who would boost attendance at the fundraiser.

Shortly after Pickstar released Kate's brief to shortlisted candidates Joel Thompson made contact to express his interest in being involved.
Joel is a huge mental health advocate who runs his own mental health initiative called 'the mindset project', so Kate believed he was a great fit for the event.
Outcome
Joel jumped on a flight to Mount Isa on a Friday evening and on Saturday was given a tour around town by Kate.
Attendees at the event were thrilled to hear Joel's stories from his illustrious career, as well as raw insights into his mental health challenges and the importance of support networks.
Joel was very generous with his time and chatted freely with many of the 100-plus attendees, as well as posing for photos and signing autographs.
In the end, Kate couldn't have been happier with the night and believed Joel's participation not only united the community and built awareness of mental health issues, but also helped raise much-needed funds for the North West Queensland Mental Health Network.
