Izzi's Background in Athletics

Izzi started running when she was 8-years old through Little Athletics in Adelaide and went on to spend 5 years competing as a student/athlete at The University of Washington (USA). There she was a multiple All-American and school record holder at the 5,000m(i) and 10,000m. There she earned her Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Psychology. Her career highlights during this time include placing 3rd in the 10,000m at the 2019 NCAA Track & Field Championships and winning the 2019 PAC12 Conference Championship in the 10,000m. During her collegiate career she suffered from six stress fractures in her feet in the span of two years, overcoming these difficult times strengthened her resilience and she credits this to making her a stronger athlete physically and mentally. She experienced a breakout season in 2020/2021 before making her Olympic Debut and credits this to focusing in enjoying the process.

Izzi’s passion and love for running is unparalleled. She is a big believer that running and exercise can have a huge impact on an individual’s happiness and well-being. As a coach she wants to help others to share the benefits that running can provide and educate runners on positive strategies to assist them in their running and everyday life. She has a key interest in coaching women and inspiring young girls to stay involved in sport.
