Andrew Walker is an elite athlete, business executive, and community leader whose career spans over a decade at the highest level of Australian rules football and successful ventures in corporate leadership. A proud Yorta Yorta man, Walker carved out a historic legacy at the Carlton Football Club before transitioning into corporate governance, Indigenous advocacy, and high-performance coaching. Known for his versatility, leadership, and resilience, he brings a wealth of real-world experience from both the sporting arena and the boardroom, making him a highly compelling speaker for corporate, sporting, and community audiences.
Career Highlights
AFL Milestone: Played 202 games over a 12-year career with the Carlton Football Club, debuting in 2004 against the West Coast Eagles.
Club History: Made history as the first Indigenous player to reach the 200-game milestone in Carlton Football Club’s 160-year history.
On-Field Excellence: Finished in the top five of Carlton's Best and Fairest count four times and was the club’s leading goal kicker in 2011.
Life Membership: Awarded Life Membership by the Carlton Football Club in recognition of his significant contributions on and off the field.
Leadership & Corporate Impact
Following his retirement from playing in 2016, Walker seamlessly transitioned into strategic leadership roles. He served as Carlton’s first Indigenous Liaison Officer, an advisory board member for the club's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), and a development coach, where he mentored first-year players and guided Indigenous recruits through their transition into the AFL system.
Beyond football, Walker has established himself as a successful entrepreneur and corporate executive. He currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of A2B Personnel, a Supply Nation-registered organisation dedicated to creating employment, training, and apprenticeship opportunities for Indigenous Australians. His business acumen also extends to founding ground-up businesses, including a family entertainment center, and working as a licensed real estate agent.
