Create an experience with Mitch Wallis

Mitch Wallis began his journey with the Bulldogs in 2010 after being drafted as a father-son prospect. Mitch’s father, Steve Wallis, was a former-skipper of the Bulldogs. After an exciting junior campaign with the Calder Cannons in the TAC CUP, Mitch earned recruitment through his hard-edged, inside game-style. His ability to win the competitive ball, provide defensive pressure and execute his disposal efficiency, was a great facet of his game. Upon arriving at the kennel, Mitch has continued this game style and has even adopted a particular role as a defensive-midfielder, one who’s priority is minimising some of the game’s best athletes.

Mitch debuted for the club in 2011 in Round 5 against Essendon – he went on to play 6 games in his first season. However, it was his 2012 season that drew plenty of attention. In his 19 appearances, Mitch remarkably collect an average of 22.3 disposals, the third most in the Bulldogs’ playing group. Furthermore, he also held the fourth most clearances and tackles within the club, too. His outstanding year was highlighted with a 3rd placing in the NAB AFL Rising Star as well as being awarded the Bulldogs’ Most Improved Player Award.

Wallis continued to have consistent seasons through the 2013 and 2014 years however, most notably, began to lift in his ability during the 2015 season. Across his 20 appearances, he averaged 23.4 disposals, 4.75 tackles and kicked a collective 15 goals for the year. Furthermore, Mitch followed this form into the 2016 season, collecting a further impressive average of 22.8 disposals a game. However, Mitch suffered a horrific injury late in the 2016 season, ending his 17-game run. Mitch consequently was left on the side-lines where he watched his team break the Western Bulldogs’ 62 year premiership-drought. However, despite not being a part of the team on the day, he was seen as a key-contributor to the Bulldog’s 2016 success.

After another strong season in 2017, Wallis will now look towards the 2018 season where he will hope to play more regularly and avoid injury. Wallis has now played 105 senior games for the Western Bulldogs

Mitch Wallis has departed the Western Bulldogs after 12 seasons at the Whitten Oval.
