About me

Geoff has a powerful, inspirational and highly-motivating story to tell: a former England football international, he was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia in 2003 and given three months to live.

After a successful bone marrow transplant, the former Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder went on to ride the Tour de France to raise money for leukaemia research just months after being told he was in remission.

Nearly two decades on he has dedicated his life to finding a cure for blood cancer and continues to raise millions of pounds to help fund clinical trials.

He was awarded an MBE for such work as part of the Queen's Birthday Honours in 2021.

Geoff made nine appearances for the national team during his previous career as a  professional footballer, while he also captained Crystal Palace in the famous 3-3 draw against Manchester United in the 1990’s FA Cup final.

Next summer Geoff will ride the Tour de France for a sixth time with the aim of raising more than £1m.

Geoff’s story of courage and bravery is gripping, but he also shines a light on the lives that have been lost to this illness along the way.
