Inspired by Monica Seles, Alexandra started playing at the age of 8 with her sister Tatjana Bozovic. She was guided by her dad growing up who was a former professional boxer. From the first day on court, Alexandra learnt quickly what hard work and discipline consisted of, and throughout her schooling years, spent countless hours before and after school training. There were no shortcuts or excuses. Following her training sessions there was always additional training. When everyone finished 2.5 hours of squads or training and left the courts, Alexandra always stayed behind doing extra running, push ups and sit-ups around the soccer oval next to the tennis courts.
Alexandra's father strongly believed and instilled in her and her sister, that in order to be the best, she always need to train and put in more work than the rest of her competitors. She also did a lot of squad swimming in her early years of tennis as complementary fitness which resulted in her swimming coach encouraging her to pursue a swimming career.
Alexandra was determined to put in the work for tennis and get to the top. She has competed internationally in all professional tournaments from ITFs, WTAs and has played the Australian Open three times.
Last year she was unable to travel and compete due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Unable to play any WTA ranking tournaments, Tennis Australia organised Universal Tennis Ranking (UTR) tournaments for Australian players, where they could compete against Australia’s best players.
Alexandra never stopped training during lockdown, and after winning six UTR events and making four finals, she was named Australia’s top performing female player of the year. This year she competed in the Australian open qualifying in Dubai, where she unfortunately had her very first serious sports injury. After some time off, Alexandra is back competing and has won the last two Australian Money Tournaments and is greatly looking forward to travelling overseas to compete on the WTA Tour.
