I was born in Gympie and raised in Mackay, central Queensland. I started out playing junior Hockey for West Mackay State School, then Mercy College and finally finished my Junior hockey with St Patrick's College in 2006. I began my senior hockey with Norths Hockey Club at the age of 13 so my weekends were packed with 2 games of hockey and a game of AFL, it's fair to say I loved all codes of sport. After graduating from St Patricks College in 2006, I moved straight to Brisbane to join the Queensland Academy of Sport. In 2007 I made my debut for the Queensland senior men’s side and 2 years later in August, 2009, I made my debut for the Australian Men's Hockey Team 'The Kookaburras'. Since that day I have played 146 matches for Australia and have been fortunate enough to participate in and experience, 2 Olympic Games, 2 World Cups, 2 Commonwealth Games and 5 Champions Trophies. Outside the everyday requirements of the Australian men’s hockey squad, I have used most of my time for completing my Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Accounting and Finance. As I am nearing the end of my studies I have engaged in vocational work with PwC Accounting firm and have been lucky enough to acquire a graduate position. As Hockey is a semi-professional sport I have always been conscious of giving myself more options outside my sport. When you are a member of the Kookaburras you become a role model for all kids involved in the sport and potentially some more outside of the sport. I look to set a good example to the younger generation through how I play and present myself on field, as well as through my endeavours and lifestyle off field.
