Create an experience with Orla O'Dwyer

Orla O’Dwyer is an accomplished Irish athlete excelling in both GAA and AFLW. Originally from Tipperary, she was a dual-code star in Ireland, representing her county in both camogie and Ladies Gaelic football, even captaining the camogie team. In 2020, she made the decision to move to Australia, joining the Brisbane Lions AFLW team. 

Since then, Orla  has established herself as one of the top Irish imports in the AFLW. She made history in 2022 by becoming the first Irishwoman to earn an All-Australian selection. Known for her speed, tackling ability, and relentless work ethic in the midfield, she continues to be a vital player for Brisbane. Her journey highlights the growing presence of Irish players in the AFLW and the opportunities available for women in sport

Some of her achievements to date include:

Two-time AFLW Premiership Winner – O'Dwyer won the AFLW Premiership with the Brisbane Lions in 2021 and again in 2023, making her only the second Irish player to achieve multiple titles in the league 

All-Australian Selection (2022) – She became the first Irish player to be named in the prestigious AFLW All-Australian team, recognising her as one of the best players in the competition

Best Finals Player (2024) – O'Dwyer was awarded Best Finals Player in the 2024 AFLW season after a stellar postseason performance

Brisbane Lions Best & Fairest Runner-Up (2020) – She was recognised as one of the club’s most valuable players in just her second season 

Camogie and Ladies' Gaelic Football Success – Before moving to Australia, she played both camogie and Gaelic football for Tipperary, even captaining the county in camogie at the age of 19.
