Brett Maher began playing for the Adelaide 36ers in 1992. He became captain of the side in 1997 and led the team to three Championships in ’98, ’99 and 2002, and won the teams MVP award six times. In 2008 he over took Mark Davis to be the clubs longest serving player. He was awarded the Larry Sengstock medal in the ’99 and ’02 grand finals for the most valuable player of the finals series and was selected to the All NBL First Team in 2000, 2003 and 2006. After retiring in 2009, Brett is very proud of being only one of a handful of Australian players to have played their whole NBL basketball career (524 games) with one club, the Adelaide 36ers.

Having been a member of the Australian “Boomers” National squad since 1993, he participated in three Olympic Games. Finishing fourth in Atlanta(1996) and Sydney(2000) and ninth in Athens(2004),  also competing at the 1998 World Championships in Athens, Greece. He won the Australian Basketball International Player of the year award in 2001 and finished with playing 180 games for the Boomers.

In 2018 Brett was inducted into the Basketball Australia/NBL Hall Of Fame.
