Faulkner only further enhanced himself as a World Class performer and man for any occasion by winning Man of the Match in Australia’s World Cup winning final against New Zealand.

Faulkner turned the match as he came on and picked up 3-39 off nine overs and it was a double wicket maiden that swung the match in Australia’s favour. Man of the Match in the final puts him in the company of players like Viv Richards, Shane Warne, Ricky Ponting and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

The all rounders skill set with bat and ball have allowed him to debut across all formats of the game for Australia. Debuting firstly in the T20 arena in 2012, followed shortly after in ODI’s and Test in 2013.

Faulkner’s break out season domestically was in 2010/11 when he took 36 shield wickets at 17.76. This coincided with Tasmania winning the Sheffield Shield. Faulkner also won his first of three consecutive Ricky Ponting medals as Tasmania’s best player.

Faulkner is also widely known as the “Finisher” in International and Australian cricketing circles after many stunning performances with the bat to either set a large total or chase down a total.

It was his 69 off 47 deliveries against England at the GABBA batting at 9 that set Australia buzzing. With Australia still requiring 57 runs and 9 down Faulkner calmly turned down singles and then belted 25 off the last 7 balls for a miraculous win.

This innings was hot off the back of scoring Australia’s fastest ever ODI hundred batting at seven.
