Born in South Africa, Michael Neser moved with his family to the Gold Coast at the age of 10 and emerged in Queensland’s Under-19 side in 2008-09. A bowling all-rounder with decent pace and the ability to bat up the order if required, Neser made his state debut in 2010-11 in the Sheffield Shield and Ryobi Cup.
Ness was among the best for the Heat in BBL01 with the ball taking 7 with wickets with a strike rate of 18, with an economy rate of 7.86 and best figures of 3/31. Not only was he a key contributor with the ball but was also handy with the bat, with a strike rate of 148.65 and an average 55, before moving to Adelaide strikers from BBL02 onwards. He represented Australia A in 2014.
In May 2018, he was added to Australia's ODI squad for their series against England. He made his ODI debut on 13 June 2018.
In November 2021, Neser was named in Australia's Test squad for the 2021-22 Ashes Series. On 16 December Neser made his Test debut at the Adelaide Oval.
