Create an experience with Bryce Gibbs

After an illustrious 265 games with the Carlton Football Club and Adelaide football club, Bryce Gibbs has achieved great heights in his AFL career, finishing up his playing career in his hometown of Adelaide.

Few players have entered the AFL system with as much hype as Gibbs. After a stellar season with Glenelg in the SANFL in 2006, there was little doubt surrounding Gibbs’ mantle as the best young player in the country. Since being the first selection in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft, Gibbs has lived up to expectations, becoming one of Carlton’s prime movers and earning the respect of the AFL community. In 2009, he finished third in Carlton’s Best and Fairest, his second top-five finish in succession.  Playing mainly as a midfielder where his kicking skills are a feature, Gibbs has been a key leader at the Blues, a testament to his maturity and rapport with teammates.

Gibbs’ star status grew even further in 2010, peaking with a 45-possession haul against the West Coast Eagles, which contributed to his third straight top-five finish in the Blues’ Best and Fairest. In 2011 Gibbs played his 100th AFL game, finished third in Carlton’s Best and Fairest and played in his first winning final.

His peak season to date was 2014, where Gibbs showcased everything that the great modern midfielders do week-in, week-out to secure his first John Nicholls Medal. After an injury interrupted 2015, Gibbs averaged a career high for possessions in playing every game of 2016 to finish fourth in the John Nicholls Medal in Brendon Bolton’s first year in charge.

Following a strong 2017 season where Gibbs played all 22 games, a transition to Adelaide come reasonably late in his career, compared to most. It did not take long for Gibbs to find his feet at the crows, which saw him play all 22 games and finish fourth in the Best & Fairest. In showdown 45 Gibbs achieved a significant milestone playing his 250th AFL game.

Off-field, Gibbs enjoys a healthy interest in the media and has featured on several programs including The Footy Show, Before the Game, Game Day, and Saturday Central on Bigpond Sport. He is also a key aspect of Adidas’ presence in AFL, having worn their boots since his junior days.
