Beki Smith is a proud Yuin woman and is one of only sixty known Indigenous Olympians. Beki represented Australia at the London 2012 Olympic Games in the 20km race walk where she finished in a personal best time. Smith is passionate about using the skills she learnt as an athlete to give back to the community. She currently works as a Community Engagement Advisor with the Australian Institute of Sport. One of the programs she leads is Share a Yarn (a program dedicated to promoting reconciliation through sport). Smith sits on a number of sporting committees and advisory groups with the goal of creating a more accessible high performance system for First Nations communities.
