Chloe is one of Australia’s few triple sport elite athletes. Starting her professional career in the WNBL for the Sydney Uni Flames after receiving a Scholarship through Sydney University, Chloe worked hard on her game but was afforded little game time as she found it difficult to break into the starting line up. With a childhood dream to one day represent Australia at the Olympics after following her idols such as Cathy Freeman, Chloe was determined to make it in whatever way she could. After googling sports ahead of the Rio Olympics, Chloe found the answer in Rugby 7’s having grown up playing with her brothers as a child in the backyard. After some intense training, skill sessions, and determination, Chloe made the team ahead of the 2016 Games and was a key part of the teams Gold Medal success. It was the first time that an Australian Womens Team had won Gold since 2000.
Her success in her new sport was recognized with an OAM and by winning the Shawn Mackay Medal in 2017, awarded to Australia’s best Rugby 7’s player. However instead of becoming complacent, Chloe chose to challenge herself once again and try her hand at AFLW whilst still juggling her Rugby career. Making her AFLW debut for Carlton in 2019, Chloe played in the AFLW Grand Final in front of 53,000 fans before coming Runner Up in the Club Best & Fairest in 2020. After missing the 2021 Season due to a back operation, Chloe made the decision to join the GWS Giants in order to manage her Rugby & AFLW career more effectively ahead of the Tokyo Games in 2021.
Selected in the Australian Rugby 7’s team to head to Tokyo, Chloe unfortunately suffered an accidental head knock with a teammate in the final warm up game before the Games started which saw her fracture her eye socket and have to give up her spot in the team. Falling agonisingly short of her dream to compete at a second Olympic Games, Chloe took it in her stride and focused her attention to the 2022 AFLW season where she performed exceptionally.
Chloe is a qualified Physiotherapist, however it has been her recent work in the Media that she has a growing passion for. This has included featuring on Stan for Rugby Australia covering games, a regular on Channel Nine’s Sunday Sport, as well as an abundance of radio work. Chloe started her own platform, ‘The Female Athlete Project’ focusing on addressing the gender inequalities in sport after recent studies found that women make up 40% of participants in sport, yet only receive 4% of the sports media coverage. In addition to this Chloe is releasing a book in 2023 which will cover the rise of Women's Sport in Australia and some of the challenges female athletes experience in terms of opportunity, respect, pay, and representation.
