A star of commentary, Jack Heverin has steadily worked his way up the ranks to be one of media’s most versatile talents. A host of his own show ‘The Sporting Capital’ on SEN from 2018-20 which covered off on the days events and topics, whilst also incorporating live commentary of A-League, Cricket, and NBL. Due to the impact of COVID in 2020 on radio programming and shows, Jack continued on as host of various shows including being the central host of newly-launched SEN Track, as well as a 2 month stint hosting Summer Breakfast. It has been through these opportunities that Jack has been able to showcase his fine hosting ability, along with his knack to call live sport to perfection and allow listeners to sense the occasion of each call.

Starting from humble beginnings, Jack begun commentating local Football in 2009 for the Mornington Peninsula Football League, covering the match of the round. These cold winter Saturday’s unearthed a passion within Jack as he quickly set his goals to achieve a career in media. Within two years Jack won the Melbourne Radio School ‘Jack Ridley Memorial’ for being the Most Outstanding Student, outlining his rise through the ranks.

From that point in 2011, Jack commenced as a host for Crocmedia where his versatility was evident as he sat in the Host chair for Sportsday, Stumps, Off The Bench, and Without Bias, as well as calling multiple live Sports including AFL, A-League, and NBL to name a few. Jack was also Executive Producer for ‘AFL Live’ from 2012 to 2016.

Sensing the opportunity to spread his wings, Jack joined EON Sports Radio in 2016 to host the breakfast show ‘The Morning Rush’ with Bianca Chatfield, before switching to the afternoon show ‘The Final Bell’ in 2017 before EON unfortunately shut down. Whilst it was a disappointing end to the station, the experience it gave Jack was invaluable.

In addition to hosting various shows during his time at SEN, Jack was also one of the prominent commentators on ‘AFL Nation’, the host of ‘The Thrill of the Chase’ for GRV, Channel 7’s ‘Winners’, and ‘The Bowls Show’. Other roles have included being a play by play commentator for the Suncorp Super Netball and Cricket Australia’s coverage of Domestic Cricket.

Currently Jack is one of the main play by play callers for the NBL, commentator and host for all the Fox Sports Lawn Bowls events in Australia, including the Australian Open and Bowls Premier League, and worked with Triple M during the 2022 AFL Season. Jack is also a terrific MC which has included Bowls Australia, Souther 80 Ski Race, and Netball Victoria to name a few.

A tireless worker who thrives on live sports and delivering an accurate and entertaining product for his audience, Jack’s career highlights to date include commentating the 2015 Cricket World Cup and being on the ground as SEN's leading commentator and journalist during the 'Sandpaper Gate' saga in South Africa, calling his first AFL Grand Final in 2020, Commonwealth Games gold medal matches and NBL Grand Final Series.
