Jacqui Newton is a young defender on the rise, joining Collingwood after 3 years with the Melbourne Vixens. She made her Super Netball debut in 2018 and went on to play a part in the Vixens premiership-winning campaign, taking the court on four occasions.
A tenacious and durable defender, Newton enjoyed a great 2021 SSN campaign, playing a variety of roles, always rising to the occasion. Growing up, She was a regular representative of Victoria and Australia at an underage level, being a member of both the Australian 17/U and 19/U Squad.
The goal-defender is a two-time netball premiership winner having claimed the 2019 Australian Netball League and 2018 Victorian Netball League silverware.
Newton has developed well with her ability to transition between attacking the ball and hands, able to play both a one-on-one approach or zone her attacker away from the play.
Off the court, Newton holds a bachelor's degree (Honours) in Primary and Secondary Teaching. Majoring in Japanese, with a minor in Legal Studies and Humanities. She is also passionate about coaching and leadership
