Sam was drafted to the Fremantle Dockers in 2015 with pick 55 after spending 3 years playing VFL with Box Hill Hawks. He played all but one game after his Round 10 debut in 2016.
Currently Sam plays for the Gold Coast Suns.
In 2017 he played 2 AFL games despite playing consisted WAFL football. At the end of 2017 he was delisted after winning the Peel Thunder Best and Fairest and being named in the WAFL Team of the year.
In 2018 Sam continued his football in the VFL with the Werribee Tigers. He was named in the VFL team of the year and came equal second in the VFL JJ Liston Trophy. In October he was drafted to the Gold Coast Suns.
Sam took the opportunity with both hands, gaining a permanent place in the Suns side and was elevated to the leadership group in 2020.
Sam has also completed his Bachelor of Commerce with a Major in Finance and Marketing (The University of Melbourne).
