Lauren began gymnastics at the age of 6 and had a gymnastics career spanning over 18 years. She is a dual Olympian and still the first and only female gymnast from Australia to achieve a gold medal at a World Championships. Lauren’s World Championship debut was in 2007, where she went on to attend a total of 4 World Championships and achieving a total of 3 World Championship medals, proving she’s a true competitor on the world stage. Lauren was the leader of the Australian Women’s Gymnastics Team from 2009 until 2016 and helped automatically qualify the Team for a position in the 2012 London Olympics, where she achieved a historic 5th placing on Floor. Lauren is also one of the most decorated WA athletes at Commonwealth Games winning a total of 4 gold and 3 silver medals, and won WA Sports Star of the Year and WAIS Athlete of the Year in 2010.
Outside of gymnastics, Lauren has exceptional organisational skills, being able to juggle a successful sporting career with university studies graduating at the end of 2018 and making the Vice Chancellors List. Lauren is now working as a radiographer at one of WA’s top hospitals. Lauren overcame many challenges and adversities throughout her entire gymnastics career, including multiple injuries and setbacks, showing her perseverance, dedication and commitment not only to her gymnastics career but also to having a career outside of sport. Lauren is passionate about using her knowledge and experience from her athletic experience to help inspire and mentor individuals. Lauren now wishes to enter the next chapter of her life by empowering others through motivational speaking.
