Matt’s early career was spent as a successful professional rugby player, making a total of 290 appearances for the Northampton Saints and London Wasps between '91 and 2006. Well known for his game-changing 'sniping runs' and 'tap and go' penalties Matt was capped 77 times for England and selected three times to tour with the British and Irish Lions. He won his 50th cap for England in the Six Nations in 2003 and later that year played a crucial role in England's World Cup Win. Since retiring from Rugby, Matt forged a successful career in television and media which continues to play an important role in his life, with commitments including BBC Radio 5 Live, and a regular captain on Question of Sport - a position he retained for over a record 16 years.
In 2010 Matt made a successful transition into the corporate world, initially in ambassadorial roles and more recently into active strategic positions with facilities giant, Sodexo, global flexible workspace specialist, The Instant Group and Bell Intergration, an I.T and procurement management expert.
The last 10 years has given Matt a unique view of the corporate environment - getting under the skin of how businesses run, the expectations of their clients, and how to deal with everyday challenges from getting groups to work together through to taking accountability for results. He speaks regularly of the synergies between the field and the workplace; presenting to corporate teams on topics such as staff engagement, leadership, marginal gains, teamwork and the importance of data.
