Melissa Kuys is an Australian rules footballer playing for the St Kilda Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW).

Kuys started playing football at the age of eight, playing in the junior boys' competition with Rowville. During her football journey she played for the Eastern Lions, Scoresby, and Knox. In 2016, she captained Knox and won the best and fairest award in a season in which the club only won one game.

Before the inaugural AFLW draft, Kuys was expected to be considered as a marquee player by Carlton.

During the off-season between the 2017 and 2018 AFLW seasons, Kuys was selected as the inaugural captain of Box Hill Hawks, after they assumed the VFL Women's license of the relegated Knox.

Kuys was selected by Collingwood with pick 118. She made her debut in round 2, 2017, in a match at IKON Park against Melbourne.

Collingwood re-signed Kuys for the 2018 & 2019 season.

Kuys was a premiership player for Hawthorn Football Club in the VFL IN 2018 but ruptured her achilles in the semi final.

Kuys has recently signed with St Kilda Football Club for the 2020 AFLW season (New Club in the AFLW) and has moved from Hawthorn in the VFL to St Kilda VFL in 2019 season wearing jumper number 9 up until next season in the AFLW wearing #19 for St Kilda FC.

Apart from her sports career, Kuys is a chef and runs her own catering company “kuyskatering”.

Just wanted to say thanks again and give some positive feedback for Mel who was great. Given that we are just in the initial stages of our girl's footy program, she was actually perfect for us as she could talk to the girls about training without a team (which our girls may need to do next year if we don't get the numbers). We had about 30 girls turn up which was really great and they all appreciated Mel's involvement.
