Recently retired, Braith Anasta has had one hell of a Rugby League career, with 10 Origins, 4 Tests, one premiership and 288 NRL appearances.
2002 saw Braith make his State of Origin debut (NSW), where he scored 10 tries. This stellar sporting performance led to him being the youngest ever man to captain the Bulldogs.
Anasta was a vital player in the Bulldogs winning the 2004 NRL Premiership. He played 26 matches and scored 8 tries.
After playing 110 first grade matches for the Bulldogs (scoring 50 tries, kicking 2 goals and 10 field goals), Braith signed a 3 year deal with the Sydney Roosters in 2006.
Braith was exceptional as five-eighth in the 2007 season for the Roosters and his performance was rewarded with another Dally M nomination and he took out the Rooster’s prestigious ‘Jack Gibson Player of the Year Medal’ as well as the ‘Supporters Club Player of the Year Award’.
Braith was given captaincy of the club and continued to be a well respected, dedicated player.
In 2010 in the first final game against his future club Wests Tigers, Braith moved to a new position in second row and leading up to the golden point, scored the crucial field goal. Braith announced his retirement in August 2014 after suffering a biceps injury.
Outside of the game, Braith is an avid golfer with an impressive handicap of 1, an ambassador of the 2014 ATC Sydney Spring Carnival and rugby league commentator for Fox Sports, signing a new 5 year deal in 2017. He is also a devoted father of 3 beautiful children.
