Over his 14 year career he has held numerous leadership roles with both teams, including as Vice Captain and Captain of the Titans. William has been recognised for his leadership both on and off the field. In 2014 he won the prestigious Preston Campbell Award, bestowed upon the player who shows the greatest characteristics of the ultimate teammate and clubman. He was recognised for his exemplary service to the community during his nine year tenure with the Titans by becoming a finalist for the 2016 Ken Stephen Medal presented at the Dally M Awards. He serves as an official ambassador for anti-domestic violence charity White Ribbon Australia, and was also recently honoured for his commitment to using his horsemanship skills to work with disabled people as a volunteer at Riding for the Disabled Gold Coast. In addition to being a professional athlete, William is a skilled horseman who has a budding career as an equine trainer and behaviourist.
