My name is Kate Wood (née McMaster) and I grew up in a small country town called Coolah in North West NSW with my two younger sisters Lauren and Elise, and my parents Chris and Jenni.
My health journey began before I can consciously remember as I had a very traumatic birth that ended in an emergency C-Section that left me struggling for my life. I’m sure it was making it through my rough start that has contributed to my resilience and passion for life. Even as a baby my mum tells stories of me spitting out Panadol and being a very healthy eater and good sleeper.
I learnt the importance of nutrition and sleep /recovery initially in my athletic career where I was national champion in the 800m from the age of 10 years old. I was always a big eater and would try anything and learnt at a young age the importance of sleep. Later eating bulk cooked food at board-ing school from 12 years old, further highlighted the importance of nutrition not just on my physical health and energy levels but also my mental health.
I later battled health issues issues after a tick bite from 16 years old onwards, when severe fatigue was diagnosed as glandular fever and then chronic fatigue syndrome. After a multitude of doctor and medical specialist appointments over many years failed to help me improve my health, my par-ents turned to alternate health to help me which saw major improvements in my health. Juicing, hy-dration, functional testing, nutritional supplements, rest and a paleo based diet (which it wasn’t called back in those days of course), saw me get my feet back on the ground and back to study, work and my beloved athletic career. But during that 14 years (between 16 and 30) my health was never the same, and no matter how “healthy” I was in my lifestyle I just didn’t seem to get anywhere near the optimal health I believed I deserved.
In 2012 I was diagnosed with Lyme disease after a second tick bite saw me relapse into severe fa-tigue and illness again. It was this journey to near death and back that has helped me learn and im-plement many of the health strategies that I continue to live and breath by to this day and inspire my clients to do the same. I now gladly share this knowledge with you..
My goal is to inspire you to take your health into your own hands, no matter where you are on your journey, and help you implement a step by step path towards optimal health, happiness and a quality of life you never imagined possible!
