Madison Wilson OAM is an accomplished Australian swimmer who specialises in backstroke, freestyle and relay swimming.
Originally from Yeppoon on Queensland’s Capricorn Coast, ‘Madi’ burst onto prominence by claiming silver in the 50m backstroke at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Later that year, she won a silver (4x100m freestyle) and bronze medal (4x200m freestyle) as a member of Australian relay teams at the 2014 FINA World Swimming Championships in Doha.
She then won a further three medals at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, including gold as a member of the Australia’s winning 4×100-metre freestyle relay, as well as winning a silver medal in the 100m backstroke.
Madi made her Olympic debut in Rio in 2016 and finished 8th in the 100m backstroke final while also winning gold and silver as part of the 4x100m freestyle and medley relay teams.
An Order of Australia Medal (OAM) recipient in 2017, Madi followed up her early success by winning another gold medal as part of the Dolphins world record breaking 4x200m freestyle relay team at the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju.
A second Olympic appearance at the 2021 Tokyo Games saw her collect another gold and bronze medal as part of Australia’s successful 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relay team.
Madi added to her impressive medal haul by capturing two Gold and two Silver medals at the 2022 World Championships in Budapest as well as winning four Gold Medals and One Bronze Medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
