Journalist and presenter Hannah Hollis began her TV career in 2012 after joining the SBS team as an Indigenous cadet, covering Indigenous stories, in addition to international affairs. However, a lover of all sports herself, Hannah was working in hopes for a spot on the sports desk, pitching stories for Indigenous TV stations including NITV and Living Black to promote her capabilities in relation to sports broadcasting. Having joined the Fox League team, Hannah has now formed a strong career on TV and developed a passion for inspiring young Indigenous people.

Hannah Hollis’ Broadcast Career:

Finally, in 2017, Hannah Hollis joined the Fox League team, with game day appearances for NRL games, The Late Show with Matty Johns, and remains one of four hosts on Australia’s first all-female sports panel show League Life.

Hannah Hollis and Representing Indigenous Culture:

A descendant of the Jawoyn people from the Northern Territory, Hannah advocates for the representation of Indigenous people and culture in Australian sport. In May of 2021, Hannah discussed the importance of the Indigenous Round in the NRL and its role in strengthening reconciliation and supporting social cohesion, whilst promoting the essence of storytelling within Indigenous culture. Hannah Hollis is also a member of the Indigenous News and Current Affairs team.

Hannah Hollis Career Highlights:

Hannah has incorporated her love of sport and attachment to her Indigenous culture whilst hosting the 2015 Bells Beach Indigenous surfing titles broadcast, as well as the NSW Koori Knockout from the same year. Hannah was also part of the 2014 SBS World Cup broadcast team. In 2016, Hannah hosted the NAIDOC Awards in Darwin.

Being the first in her family to undergo tertiary education, Hannah graduated from RMIT in Melbourne with studies in media and communications.

Lifelong Love for Sport:

Hannah Hollis describes sport as a prominent unifier throughout her life, having not only guided her career path, but also remained an essential aspect of her personal life since her youth after growing up in a sport-loving household. Currently, Hannah plays basketball in her spare time, as well as follows the NRL, supporting both the Melbourne Storm and Canberra Raiders.

Indigenous Culture and Storytelling:

Her interest in storytelling in regards to Aboriginal culture is also expressed in her love for Aboriginal art reminiscent of Indigenous stories and/or landmarks.

Hannah also enjoys raising awareness for the untold stories of members of the Indigenous community, as it combines both her love for travel and storytelling.

Indigenous Education for all Australians:

Hannah believes all Australians should be educated on Indigenous culture and its importance of being celebrated, with hopes that she herself can inspire Indigenous children to achieve their aspirations.

During her adolescence, Hannah has revealed she was racially targeted for her culture and background, which ultimately drives her current desires to ensure there are enough ideal role models for today’s Indigenous youth. With aspirations of changing people’s perceptions of Indigenous people, Hannah Hollis believes that channeling a change of attitudes through positivity is the path to reconciliation and unity.

Book Hannah:

With a promising career and experience as a sports presenter, Hannah Hollis makes the perfect guest speaker or TV sports panelist. As a descendent of the Jawoyn people, booking Hannah as a guest speaker in schools allows her to share her story, encouraging young kids and adolescents to set goals and strive to achieve their aspirations, particularly for those students who may be of Indigenous or Aboriginal descent.

Her extensive experience in sports broadcasting makes Hannah Hollis the perfect MC for awards nights and conferences.
