Recognized as one of Australia’s fastest female track cyclists, Maeve Plouffe is a dual Olympian, World Cup champion, Australian record holder, and Commonwealth Games gold medalist—all before turning 25.
At just 19, she burst onto the international scene, winning her first World Cup gold and five Oceania medals in a single season. By 2021, she was the youngest woman on Australia’s Olympic track squad, finishing fifth at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Seven (and counting) Australian Championship golds later, Maeve was named Australia’s Track Cyclist of the Year. But it wasn’t just her results that set her apart—it was her gritty, all-in racing style and fearless training mentality, priming her to thrive in cycling’s most brutal test: the Individual Pursuit.
In 2021, she shattered the Australian record by three seconds. A year later, she became just the third woman in history to break the 3:20 barrier, setting a pace over seven seconds faster than any Australian woman before her—an unheard-of leap in just 3km. That same season, she claimed gold at the 2022 World Cup in Milton.
Despite competing across multiple events, Maeve remains one of the world’s top-ranked Individual Pursuit riders and now has her sights set on becoming world champion in the newly extended 4km event.
At the 2022 Commonwealth Games, she thrilled fans by smashing both the Games and Australian records in the Team Pursuit, then backed it up with silver in the Individual event just a day later.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, Maeve took things a step further in 2022—literally. Not content with dominating one discipline, she took on road racing, quickly rising through the ranks before making her Women’s World Tour debut in 2023 and 2024—all while still being selected to represent Australia at her second Olympics on the velodrome in Paris.
