Daniel is in his 6th year as part of the West Coast Eagles coaching group which had success with the 2018 AFL premiership win. As a coach he holds a strong focus on the planning processes for both individual and team development as well as theformulation and implementation of strategy, with a keen eye on the mental side of the game.

Daniel had a 10 year playing career at AFL with both North Melbourne and Brisbane in which he played a total of 119 Games. During this period he developed his coaching through both the national accreditation courses, getting hands on experience at the TAC U18 level in Victoria as well as completing the highly regarded Next Coach Program with David Whedon. Following his career on the field he then moved into a development/mentoring role with Hawthorn Football Club and their affiliate VFL team Box Hill Hawks where he captained the team through the 2012-13 season. During his time with the Hawks he continued to develop his coaching, building strong relationships with his players, as well as being part of both the AFL and VFL success with premierships at both levels during the 2013 season.

During this period, Daniel worked as part of the AFL respect and responsibility team as a program developer and presenter on topics including mental health, alcohol & drug abuse and domestic violence education and awareness to both professional and community sports men and women.

Towards the end of 2013 Daniel was recruited by the West Coast Eagles under head coach Adam Simpson where he has since undertaken a series of roles within the club. In 2014 he managed the young defenders before becoming the Defensive Co-Ordinator in 2015 and 2016 during which the Eagles played off against Hawthorn in the 2015 AFL Grand Final.

Over the past three seasons, 2017, 2018 and 2019 he has undertaken the role of Defensive Co-Ordinator as well as coaching the Eagles backline, and was again part of success being a member of the 2018 premiership winning coaching group.

He has continually developed all areas of his management and coaching through multiple tours overseas to both the US and Europe where he has been fortunate to up skill himself through some of sports most successful teams. These include Seattle Seahawks, US Olympic Team, St Mary's Basketball, France Rugby Federation, ASM Clermont Rugby, Brugge FC and Lille LOSC soccer as well as other well-regarded organisations including US Navy Seals and Stanford University.

Daniel is also formally developing himself, particularly on the mental approach to sport and life. Currently completing a degree in Psychology through Western Sydney University Online. He is also an advocate of mindful meditation and practices regularly by himself, with his partner and with his players.

His skills also include program development and implementation in both performance and development for individuals and teams. He also excels in planning and innovation, as well as developing strategies to implement ideas with a process focus. His coaching and mentoring have a primary focus on relationships and developing and understanding 'Your Best Version' and then using these strategies to stay task focused on reaching you or your teams ‘Best Version’.

Daniel and his partner have recently welcomed their first child, Amelia into the family.
