Josh Brillante is a footballing journeyman who currently plays for Melbourne City after a three-year stint at Sydney FC. Being from Australia/Italian heritage, Josh spent two years in Italy playing for Fiorentina, Empoli and Como football clubs. Josh is regarded as one of the A-League’s premier midfielders and has made five appearances for the Socceroos.
From Bundaberg in Queensland, Josh spent his youth career playing at the Queensland Academy of Sport and Gold Coast United, who he was subsequently signed by in 2010 at 17 years of age.
Josh has made 145 club appearances in his short career and can boast two national youth league titles, two A-League Premierships, an A-League Championship and an FFA Cup as his club honours. Individually Josh won the FFA Male Under 20 Footballer of the Year award in 2013 after a break-out season with the Newcastle Jets.
Melbourne City Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, describes Josh as a player who works very hard and has a great attitude and character.
