Brad Ebert was drafted by the West Coast Eagles during the 2007 draft, where his elite junior football saw him selected at pick 13. Brad played his junior football with Port Adelaide in the SANFL whilst also captaining South Australia during the 2007 NAB National Championships. His hard-style football saw him gain great attention ahead of the draft and became one of the hit prospects from that year.

Brad’s time in Perth with the West Coast Eagles saw the inside midfielder play 76 games over 4 seasons. Most notably, his ability to win the contested ball as well outwork, tackle and out-mark his opponents proved a true strength to his game. His large yet athletic frame has allowed him to have versatility to his game where he can impact the scoreboard when forward as well as break contests open. Brad’s career with West Coast was largely consistent, the midfielder having a remarkable year in 2010 with an average of 19 disposals and 4 tackles a game. Just prior to moving to Port Adelaide ahead of the 2012 season, Ebert showed his ability as a forward, kicking 4 goals and having 21 disposals in his Round 20 appearance against Richmond.

Ebert returned home ahead of the 2012 season where he joined Port Adelaide. In his first game for the Power, in Round 1 of the 2012 season, Ebert displayed incredible ability as he gained 21 disposals, kicked 2 goals and committed to an incredible 12 tackles for the game. His debut season was filled with further impressive performances, with the midfielder also playing a hybrid role between the centre and half-forward position. Ebert finished his first year with Port Adelaide with 17 goals and an average of 22.9 disposals and 5.8 tackles a game. Brad was awarded runner-up of the John Cahill Medal (Port Adelaide’s Best and Fairest) after an amazing showing in his first season for the club. Furthermore, he was also awarded the Fos Williams Medal, an awarded given to the club’s Best Team Man.

Ebert continued his fine form with the Power and was a consistent player who’s professionalism and maturity kept him away from injury. In Round 7 of the 2016 season, Brad celebrated his 100th consecutive AFL game, a great achievement and acknowledgement of his dedication to the football club. Following his debut year for the Power, Ebert continued to impress with his consistency and development as a midfielder/half-forward. 2013 saw Brad kick 13 goals for the year and average 23.1 disposals a game. Furthermore, he followed this form into the 2014 season where he averaged 22.2 disposals a game and 5.96 tackles as well as kicking a further 13 goals.

Brad was nominated as member of Port’s leadership group early into his time at the club, his role on and off the field has been recognised as one of great quality and mentoring for everyone. Since arriving at the club, he has only missed a single game and has proven himself to be one of the club;s most durable and robust performers time after time. His 2017 campaign was one of great heights, reaching new highs with his playing ability and endurance. Ebert adopted primarily a midfielder role in the season, playing every game where he averaged a huge 24.7 disposals and 7.7. tackles a game. One of his more notable performances came in Round 11 against Hawthorn where he collected the ball 34 (13 contested) times whilst applying 12 tackles. If he had failed to prove it already, Ebert has now become one of the league’s best and most consistent midfield performers.

Brad is a phenomenal member of the Port Adelaide Football Club and his values are character are of the highest calibre. His work off the field has also been recognised by the club through the John McCarthy Award for his work with MND.

In 2022 Brad joined as Development coach with the Carlton Football Club. Brad will work closely with Carlton Head of Development and VFL Coach Luke Power and will be instrumental in supporting players as they progress through the Blues’ development pathway as they challenge for senior selection.

Outside of footy, Brad is the Managing Director of Hey Diddle Wines and currently completing a Master of Business Administration with UniSA after completing an undergraduate degree in Applied Sciences (Human Movement) at UniSA.
