Gary Rohan was a first-round draft selection in the 2009 NAB AFL Draft. The Swans saw Rohan’s pace, agility and size as key attributes in his role as an explosive forward. Rohan made his senior debut for the Swans in round 7 of the 2010 AFL season against Geelong. Collectively, Rohan played 18 senior games and kicked 15 goals for the Swans in his first two seasons (2010,2011). Sadly, in 2012, Rohan was struck down with a broken leg against the Kangaroos in round 4. He missed the entirety of the season and played only 5 games the following year.
Rohan continued to improve and develop in 2015, playing 18 senior games and kicking 13.10 goals. However, his true ability was displayed throughout the 2016 and 2017 seasons where he kicked 25 and 22 goals, respectively. His ability to kick goals, provide forward pressure (52 tackles over each season) and provide aerial support made him a very dynamic player. He displayed all the characteristics that the Swans had hoped he would provide.
Following the 2018 season Rohan requested a trade home to the Geelong Football Club where he will add valuable speed and tackling pressure.
