The Brisbane Lions drafted Nick Robertson during the 2013 NAB AFL Draft. The West-Australian was largely absent during the U18 National Championships due to a shoulder injury, however his previous years’ form and experience proved worthy of recruitment. As a junior, Nick was also involved in the AIS-AFL Academy and was renown for his elite endurance and strength.
In his first year at the Lions, Robertson played 8 games. His second game saw him stamp his authority on the competition against Richmond where he had 19 disposals, 6 marks and 3 tackles. Since then, Robertson has totalled 68 games for the club, playing 42 of them in the past 2 seasons. 2017 was Robertson’s break-out year, where he was recognised through the club’s Shaun Hart Trademark Player of the Year Award.
Following this, Nick continued to display a hard-line style of football, gaining a reputation as one of the league’s strongest one-on-one players. His 2018 form saw him average an impressive 17.1 disposals each game. His season-best game came 2018 season-opener against St. Kilda where he claimed 27 disposals and 6 tackles. With the exciting future of the Brisbane Lions, Robertson will look to continue his development through the 2019 season.
