Matthew Ebden is an accomplished Australian professional tennis player.

Born in Durban, South Africa, ‘Matt’ is known for his all-court game and exceptional doubles prowess. Matt has consistently been a strong presence on the ATP Tour since turning professional in 2006. He moved to Perth, Australia, as a child and began honing his tennis skills, later becoming one of Australia’s most prominent players.

In singles, Matt reached a career-high ranking of No. 39 in October 2018, showcasing his ability to compete at the highest level of the sport. He has claimed victories over several top players during his career.

In recent years, Matt has truly excelled in doubles, where he has secured multiple Grand Slam titles. His standout achievement came in 2022, when he and fellow Australian Max Purcell won the men’s doubles title at Wimbledon, marking a career-defining moment. Ebden has since won the Australian Open doubles title in 2024, partnering Indian player Rohan Bopanna. Later in the year, Matt created history by winning Gold at the Paris Olympics, partnering fellow Australian John Peers to win the Olympic Men’s Doubles title. Matt has also been a finalist at other Grand Slam events and has represented Australia in Davis Cup competitions, further solidifying his legacy as a reliable and skilled player in both singles and doubles formats.
