Garret Lyon is a proud Darumbal and Wulli-Wulli singer, songwriter, and dancer who was born and raised on Darumbal country in Central Queensland. He showed a natural talent for commanding the stage from a young age and was inspired by artists like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Janet Jackson as he grew up.

After high school, Garret moved to Brisbane to study at The Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts (ACPA). During his studies, he was featured in various shows under the direction of renowned figures such as Leah Purcell, Wesley Enoch, Sue Rider, and Broadway director Stephen Helper. Alongside his theater training, Garret toured and performed his original music extensively around Australia, including at the Indigenous NRL All Stars Games, and also served as a choreographer and co-host of NITV’s Move It Mob Style.

After graduating with an advanced diploma in music, Garret landed his first professional lead role as Aladdin in OzWorks' Aladdin: The Flying Magic Carpet Show, which had a successful three-week season in Jakarta, Indonesia. Returning to Australia, he joined Oscar Proco as a featured vocalist and dancer in their gender-bent cabaret, Boy&Girl, and participated in four seasons of the show, fulfilling his dream of living the life of a pop star.

Working with Oscar Proco allowed Garret to explore and solidify his stage presence while giving him the freedom to tap into his more feminine side, opening his eyes to a whole new world of performing. He later released his debut EP, "Belong To You," and was part of the opening act for TLC's Australian tour. Garret eventually moved to Melbourne, where he also delved into music production. He received a grant from the City of Melbourne to create his own live performance/cabaret show titled "Crazy In Love" for the YIRRAMBOI Festival.

Additionally, Garret was cast as ASAKA in Altitude Theatre’s "Once On This Island," directed and choreographed by Bree Langridge. Afterward, he decided to move back to Brisbane to resume his career in the performing arts scene, booking live music gigs and starring in multiple theater roles. In 2021, QPAC contracted Garret to produce the sequel to his show "Crazy In Love," which resulted in a free community concert titled "Biggest Mob Love," featuring a live band with singers performing original stories and songs that have inspired his musical journey thus far.

Throughout his career, Garret has worked with prominent industry names such as Bernard Fanning, Troy Cassar-Daley, and Joss Stone. Apart from his performing career, he has been involved in teaching music and dance to youth in Indigenous communities and has demonstrated his commitment to cultural protocol with local communities. In recent years, Garret has been recording new original music and released his R&B/Pop anthem "Circles," gaining over 30,000 streams on Spotify alone. He plans to continue working on his craft and collaborating with more artists on original works to further advance his status within the industry.
