Create an experience with Tom Burton

I first got my love of the Olympics watching the Sailing competition on Sydney Harbour in 2000. I grew up in Baulkham Hills, Western Suburbs of Sydney which made participating in sailing a little difficult, but the hard work and hours spent training all paid off with a come from behind victory in the final race to clinch an Olympic Gold medal in 2016.

Career Highlights

- Qualifying for the Australian Sailing Team in 2010

- 2 x Silver Medals Worlds Championships (2014/2017)

- 1x Bronze Medal World Championships (2015)

- Multiple World Cup Gold Medals

- Olympic Gold Medal (Rio Olympics 2016)

My passion for Sailing came from my parents who helped lay the platform for my entry into the sailing scene since I was 8 years old.

I was first spotted and selected for the NSW Institute of Sport when I was 16 and then began my journey inside of an elite squad until going full time Olympic Sailing post High School in 2008. 

From that time on I have spent my time travelling around Europe competing, gaining experience and honing my skills. Training for the pinnacle event in our sport which is the Olympics.

I was selected and competed in Rio, 2016 which came down to the final race before I could clinch the Gold Medal
