Maddie was selected in the 2012 Australian Paralympics Swim team as preparation for Rio in 2016 but ended up making history as the youngest Paralympics to win Gold, aged just 13. She took the Gold in the women’s 4x100 Freestyle Relay team. Elliott also took home a Silver and 2 Bronze medals.
At 14 in 2013 she won 2 Gold and a Silver at the IPC World Championships. in 2014 She was selected for the 2014 Commonwealth Games Australian Squad for Glasgow. She won the women’s 100m Freestyle S8, breaking the World Record at the same time.
Recently at the 2016 Rio Paralympics she took home 3 Gold, 2 Silver and also broke 2 World Records. Maddie was equal 5th top most decorated female athlete of the games and was ranked in the top 10 of all athletes.
Maddie was awarded an Order of Australian Medal for Services to Sport in 2014.
