Create an experience with Hewago Oea

Originally born in Papua New Guinea, Hewago Paul Oea played ALF in the Port Moresby Youth School Competition at the age of 13, where he was spotted by AFL PNG development staff. Catching the eye of the Suns at the 2017 Queensland Under-16 State Championships match, Oea went on to play in the Gold Coast Suns Academy for three years.

In 2018, Oea joined the Suns on an international scholarship. After an impressive showcase in the 2019 NEAFL season, Oea joined the rookie list of the year in 2021. 

Round 16 in the 2022 AFL Season, Oea made his AFL debut against the Collingwood Magpies. He became the first Papua New Guinea born and raised player to play in an official AFL game. He also joined the illustrious club of kicking his first goal with his first kick.

Hewago enjoys spending his time with family and friends, walking his dogs and spending his day on the beach.
