Create an experience with Aliesha Newman

Originally born in Victoria, Aliesha Newman, started out her career being recruited by the Melbourne Demons in October 2016.  She made her debut in the fifteen point loss to Brisbane at Casey Fields in the opening round of the 2017 season.

‘Newy’ is known for her blazing efforts on the run and is electric in front of goal. In 2017 she took out the league’s Goal of the Year Award. In August 2020, Newman was traded by Melbourne to Collingwood in a three-club deal which involved Richmond too.

Having spent four seasons with Melbourne, she established herself as one of the league’s best small forwards. Over a two year period, Newman had featured in 14 games and kicked 5 goals for Collingwood. 

Most recently, Aliesha has signed with the Sydney Swans during the 2022 AFLW Expansion Signing Period. 

Aliesha is a proud Indigenous woman, on and off the field she is a key role model for the youth of AFLW and aspiring female athletes.. In 2019, Aliesha proudly designed Melbourne’s Indigenous guernsey and has continued to assist with the design work of Indigenous guernseys.
