Create an experience with Ellie Gavalas

Born and raised in Tasmania, Ellie grew up playing soccer. Having represented her state and the Matildas Under 17 national team. 

Ellie then made the move to Victoria where she first started playing football in 2018. It was in 2019, when Gavalas was named in the VFLW Team of the Year playing for Footscray, the same year Ellie was awarded the player of the year award at the club. 

Gavalas was then drafted by North Melbourne in the 2019 NAB AFLW Draft with Pick 10. Ellie is often the unsung hero of North’s midfield. Coming off a career-best season in 2020 where she averaged over 15 disposals a game, Gavalas has the uncanny ability to hit the scoreboard in big moments, driving forward through the middle of the ground and using her pace and power to clear herself from opponents.

Interest & Hobbies

Currently, Ellie has her Masters of Physiotherapy and studied at La Trobe University and intends to continue working as a physiotherapist. Other than sport and study, Ellie is interested in music.
