Xavier Ellis is a premiership player for the Hawthorn Hawks, and finished his career at the West Coast Eagles before becoming one of the most known voices on breakfast radio in Western Australia.
Originally from Lake's Entrance on Victoria's east coast, Ellis was selected at Pick 3 in the 2005 AFL Draft, playing 120 games across his career and kicking 37 goals.
Ellis starred in the 2008 Grand Final, amassing 28 disposals helping the Hawks defeat the Cats. This was his first and only premiership but he would go on to play in two more grand finals.
He joined the West Coast Eagles in 2013 as a free agent, featuring in the majority of games across 2014 and 2015 including another losing grand final in 2015. After managing just two matches in the 2016 season, Ellis announced his immediate retirement from the AFL.
Post footy career, Ellis transitioned into the radio and media where he still currently occupies a prominent role as a co-host of the 92.9 Triple M Breakfast show, Triple M’s weekend sport show ‘The Deadset Legends’ and is a member of Triple M’s AFL call team in Perth.
In addition to his podcast, It’s Time for a Beer, where he sits down with all types of guests from the Australian sports landscape asking lighthearted questions mixed in with lots of humor.
Ellis is also prominent across his broadcasting commitments with Channel 7 Perth, working primarily as a boundary rider and conducting interviews for the Western Australian AFL games.
