Meet Kirby Bentley, a force to be reckoned with both on and off the field. Hailing from Mt Barker, WA, Kirby's journey as a powerhouse athlete began on the netball court, where she dominated the State U17, U19, and U21 competitions, eventually making her mark in the National League Netball scene at the age of 16 in 2004  with the Perth Orioles, signing with both the AIS in 2005 and Hunter jaegers 2007 before moving back to the west coast fever 2009 in her last ever season in the game.
But life threw Kirby a curveball when she faced a public and heart-wrenching family tragedy. Seeking solace and connection, she transitioned to the AFL Women's game in 2009, representing WA in the National Women's AFL Championship. Kirby's resilience and determination led her to clinch Premiership titles with both East Fremantle and Swan Districts.
In a historic move, Kirby became part of the inaugural AFLW showcase series, playing with the Melbourne Demons before being selected as a priority pick for the Fremantle AFLW Inaugural team in 2017. However, her path was not without obstacles, as she endured a second ACL reconstruction during the 2017 State of Origin game.
Off the field, Kirby's impact extended beyond sports. As a role model, she mentored young indigenous youth, while also spearheading initiatives like the Kirby Bentley Cup, promoting Indigenous female youth football. Her commitment to community saw her recognized as a finalist in the Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award in 2018.
Kirby's versatility shone through her career, from blasting operations with BHP to Indigenous leadership roles. In 2018, she took on the role of Reconciliation Action Plan Manager at the AFL, further cementing her influence in the sporting world before moving into construction becoming a licensed rigger and machine operator, again in a male dominated environment her ability to work in a team environment and thrive has been second to none.
Despite her impressive resume, Kirby remained grounded, using her platform to advocate for women's sports through appearances with Sherrin, XBLADES, how’s your mate, advocating for Women in domestic violence and various community engagements. Her achievements, from Netball All Australian honors to AFLW stardom with the Fremantle Football Club, solidified her status as one of Australia's most prominent female athletes.
Now, Kirby coming off her most recent experience facing one of the toughest challenges yet as she entered the arena of Survivor, drawing upon her resilience, strategic prowess, and unwavering determination to outwit, outplay, and outlast the competition. Regardless of the result she has emerged victorious once again, adding another triumph to her already illustrious career, dominating the game being considered one of the best players in the history of the game of survivor.
