Jay1 is a British rapper and songwriter that has had a meteoric rise in recent times. The last 24 months have seen the 24-year old breakthrough to the mainstream, ascending from a UK rap outsider to a formidable leader of the new school. Nominated for Breakthrough of the Year at GRM Daily’s Rated Awards – he’s done that. Gone gold for the breakthrough track “Your Mrs” – yeah, he’s done that too. Jay1 already has two top 20 UK singles and over 100M Spotify Streams on his debut album “One Wave”. 

However, his journey to success has been in no way conventional. Jay1 started his rap career in Coventry after leaving London with his family at 17 due to rising living prices. Most of the UK rap scene resides in the large, smoke-filled cities of London, Manchester and Birmingham, but this did not stop Jay1 from pursuing his passion and making a name for himself. If anything, the added pressure of establishing a career as a singular force made him work that much harder.

Jay’s distinct vocals and brand image has seen him partner with Amazon Music as their breakthrough artist and he has worked with global brands such as The North Face and JBL Audio. Football is a passion point for Jay, having created content with the likes of SoccerAM, Budweiser Football and BBC Sport. This is coupled with his multi-million listened to song “Flex” which is on the FIFA 21 tracklist.  His values are underpinned by inspiring the next generation and One Wave FC was established by Jay to provide high-quality football training and opportunity to children in Coventry.
