Originally from Brisbane, in 2011 Tom O’Halloran moved south to Blackheath, in the heart of the Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia, in order to dedicate more time to climbing.
Since he was 12, when his parents first introduced him to the local climbing gym, Tom has been consumed by climbing and followed an upwards trajectory. He's competed for Australia at World Cups and World Championships, as well as travel the world for rock projects.
He loves all disciplines of climbing but mostly concentrates on sport and bouldering. In 2016 he climbed the first ascents of ‘Baker’s Dozen’ and ‘Kitten Mittens’, both 35 (9a) becoming the first Australian climber to succeed on routes of this grade. He has since climbed three more 35/9a routes, two of which were first ascents. In 2017 he climbed the legendary Grampians boulder problem, ‘The Wheel of Life’ V15 (8C).
In 2020 he qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in climbing, being the first and only Australian male to do so. Tom continues to live in Blackheath with his partner Amanda and their daughter Audrey.
Tom made the qualification round at the Tokyo Games coming up world-class talent.
