Video Shout-Out from Michaela Davis-Meehan

Michaela Davis-Meehan has reached the pinnacle of elite big mountain riding as a Freeride World Tour (FWT) 2020 athlete.

Michaela achieved this by winning the Freeride World Qualifier Tour (FWQ) in 2019 - the first Australian to do so in this European dominated competition.

Michaela started her Rookie year with a silver podium in Hakuba, Japan and again made history finishing on top of the podium in Andorra in March; the first Australian, male or female, skier or snowboarder, to take Gold in this event.

With the Verbier Xtreme Grand Finale cancelled, Michaela has finished the FWT in 2nd overall and has qualified for the FWT 2021.

Michaela comes from a slopestyle background having represented Australia at World Cups and World Championships and having made the Shadow Olympic team in 2014.

Despite these achievements her path has not been easy with several injuries including a broken back at an elite slopestyle event in the USA in 2010. This required two surgeries and was potentially career ending. Michaela's passion for snowboarding and love of the mountains drove her on and kept her in freeride even after a knee reconstruction in 2017.

Michaela's skill and courage in attacking some of the world's wildest mountains is also evident in her sense of adventure and in her foray into big mountain films. Persian Powder documents a snowboarding trip to Iran, with friends, which won the "best film" category at the Women's Adventure Film Tour.

Michaela is the embodiment of living your 'best life.' Through determination, hard work and a passion for adventure she continuously inspires and encourages everyone she meets to explore more, follow their dreams and fill their life with adventure.
