Video Shout-Out from Casidhe Simmons

After a 9 year career as an Australian representative in heptathlon, I turned my attention to AFL and a year later found myself on an AFLW list. Unfortunately, my career was cut short by numerous concussions I sustained in a 14 month period, leaving me with lingering symptoms that continue to affect my daily life. Over the past two years, I’ve dedicated myself to understanding and optimizing my brain health, seeking ways to recover, and enhance cognitive function. This journey has become my passion, as I work to not only manage the effects of my past injuries but also empower others to take control of their own brain health for a fuller, more vibrant life. 

Having competed at the elite level in both individual and team sports, I learned many valuable skills that have helped me navigate the corporate world and life post sport. I enjoy sharing stories around high performance and how we can use these skills to elevate our personal and work lives. 

13 years in elite sport had its fair share of trials and tribulations, I also share stories on resilience and the mindset I had to defy odds. Things like qualifying for the Commonwealth Games after being sent to hospital for emergency appendicitis surgery a few months prior, moving states within a weeks notice to keep dreams alive, dislocating my shoulder a few months before draft night and refusing to give up despite being told I wouldn't recover in time (spoiler, I got drafted).
