Ex-Essendon captain (1996-97) with an elite playing and coaching background.

Played 243 games between 1987-98 including winning the club's best and fairest (Crichton Medal) in the 1993 Premiership season.

Upon retiring as a player, had 3 x 6 year stints as an Assistant Coach at Essendon (1) and Brisbane (x2) including the Lions triple Premiership era in the early 2000's.

During the last two AFL seasons (2020/21), I have written a monthly column for the Essendon Football Club website (The Voice of GO'D) and have had a weekly spot on the Saturday morning John 'Burgo' Burgess 6IX radio show.
