Alex McKinnon
Growing up as a rugby league prodigy, Alex McKinnon was all set to be a superstar of the NRL. Moving to Sydney in high school to further his rugby ambitions, Alex was eventually signed by St. George Illawarra Dragons before moving to the Newcastle Knights.
It was during his time at the Knights in a 2014 match that Alex suffered a horrifying injury from a dangerous tackle which saw him become a quadriplegic. Determined not to let this get the better of him, Alex turned to advocating for those dealing with these sorts of changes and mental health issues, while also working as hard as possible on his rehabilitation to the point in 2017 where he was able to walk again.
